Aunemo Lodge statistic 2026
Opening Week 23,
01.06.2026 - 06.06.2026
The new salmon season on the Orkla
is now one week old, and we are
already seeing very encouraging signs
in terms of salmon runs.
The first large salmon were recorded
passing the Bjørset Dam fish counter
around May 20th. To date, well over
100 salmon and large sea trout have
been registered at the counting
station – almost twice as many as at
the same time last year.
Conditions during the opening week
were excellent. Mild weather with
temperatures reaching up to 22°C, a
mix of sunshine, clouds and rain, and
a river flow of around 50 m³/s
provided ideal fishing conditions.
Unfortunately, there are once again
significantly fewer anglers on the river
this season, and bookings at our lodge
have also been slower than expected.
This naturally has a considerable
impact on the catch statistics. One of
our guests unfortunately lost a nice
salmon after a short fight in the
middle of the week. However, on
Saturday, James successfully landed a
beautiful salmon weighing 9.3 kg and
released it safely back into the river.
The coming weeks promise exciting
fishing opportunities, and all signs
point towards a very interesting
season ahead. We are looking forward
to the weeks ahead with great
optimism.
For those who can make plans at short
notice, we still have rods available
during some of the upcoming prime
weeks.
We would be delighted to welcome
you to the Orkla.
